إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ
Certainly, We have made accessible [the holy Writ] during the Night of Assessment [and Proportionality].
97al-QadrAssessmentسُورَةُ القدر
Makkan · 5 ayat · 25th in order of revelation
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ
And is there anything [capable of] having you understand the Night of Assessment [and Proportionality]?
لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ أَلۡفِ شَهۡرٖ
The Night of Assessment [and Proportionality] is better than a thousand months:
تَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمۡرٖ
During [the Night of Assessment and Proportionality] the malā’ikah and the rūḥ (divine substance) descend by their Sustainer’s approval, bearing on all [relevant] issues [entrusted to them].
سَلَٰمٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطۡلَعِ ٱلۡفَجۡرِ
[The Night of Assessment and Proportionality remains] safe and secure until the emergence of dawn.
